Have we gone through the "Inconsistent Cut Checklist"?
Proper way to do another pass (when needed, or if planned prior):
In order for this to work, you would have originally had the work piece held down well with Hold Down Pins
Go back to your dashboard, and hit dismiss on the right side pop up panel. Do not touch or modify the designs at all.
Go to the left side and "Ignore" any of the processes that do NOT need to be repeated because they were done successfully, like engraves, scores, etc.
Delete parts that are completed (For example, the 9 of 12 ornaments that cut out fine)
Now click the box on the left that are for the areas you want to cut a second pass. When you click it , it will open up another window pane
Click the small arrow that is to the right of "Proofgrade cut" and note the settings. Change the speed higher (read: faster) about 25.
Ensure no other settings inadvertently changed, which sometimes happens, like power to "0" or similar.
Then "save as" second pass "material" ("material" being the material it is for future use)
Do NOT "set focus" - no need as the material never moved. Do not worry if it doesn't "look" like it matches up with the cuts you already have on your computer screen. Have faith that it will line back up (it will if you did not move anything - even if it says "auto focusing" after you hit print.
Now hit "Print"
Your project and second pass should go perfect. It will be much faster this time around as some of the operations were ignored and the speed was faster.
Again, check to make sure it is good by using a piece of tape to lift. If it does not cut through clean this time, something is wrong - check your settings. Two passes take up time but result in better appearance than trying to turn the settings up aggressively and result in less charring and a beautiful cut.
Materials over .21 in thickness will be right at the physical limits of the 40w machines, like a Glowforge Basic for example.
Ensure the "Inconsistent Cut Checklist" has been completed to prevent this from happening again.
